He Spelled His Name For Us.
Jalynn Elliott gets a ride on veteran rider Sherry Gage's mount, Pooky, as they wait for the incoming rider at Camp Floyd, UT.
The '2/8' means this is Trailer #2, driving 8 miles ahead of the mochilla - or behind - or something like that.
Incoming rider, Jack Rhodes on 'Cheyenne', brings in the mochilla from the west access road to Camp Floyd.
Jack jumps down to help change the mochilla to 'Lefty', Eric Arnesen's mount and Eric waits for it. Hah! Looks like I got some pretty good shots, huh? Welllll, you oughta see the good ones the others got!
With plenty of help steadying both mounts, Jack hoists the pouch off Cheyenne and readies it for Lefty.
Eric welcomes the help from one of the road crew members, who gives this aid all along the trail - a long-time tradition by many of the volunteers.
Then he gives Eric a hand getting into the saddle.
'Is the east road clear?' Eric and helper seem to be saying - just before he heads across an open field toward Eagle Mountain.
At 'This Is The Place Monument':
Left: NPER President Les Bennington stands next to outgoing president Dave Sanner, as they check the list of riders. Some included are #9, Bev Heffernan, #19 Dianna Vanuitert and #19a Kat Long - a pair of back-to-back riders.
TV FOX 13 News Channel Camerman Katie McDowell talks with veteran rider Bev Heffernan as they await the incoming rider. This is where I held the button too long, and the incoming rider turned out to be a very short (4 frames) video and gave me a 'Not enough memory' flash. If I can find a way to salvage a frame for a photo of the incoming rider, I'll put that one on this page, too. Sorry to put you last, Katie, but you make a cool way to end this report!
